Seven Jewish Children
A play for Gaza
How do we tell (or don’t tell) our children about our complicity with injustice?
About the Play
Aviva Arts presented a reading of 15-Minute Provocation for Palestine by Caryl Churchill. Written as a tribute to Gaza shortly after the two-day war between Israel and Palestine ended on January 18, 2009—resulting in approximately 1,300 Palestinian and 13 Israeli deaths—the play offers a short, provocative, and impactful story.
Through seven brief windows, the play explores seven Jewish families struggling to explain to their daughters their own stories of displacement, war, home, and othering. The narrative weaves themes of denial, secrecy, and survival justification.
