Join the Aviva Arts

Board of Directors

At Aviva Arts, we believe that arts practice is liberation practice.
In a time of global instability, cultural erasure, and profound collective grief, this belief feels not only relevant, but essential.

Many of you are already part of the Aviva Arts ecosystem: attending our events, gathering with us, showing up as audience members, donors, collaborators, and supporters.

We are deeply grateful for this shared journey.

At this moment, we are inviting community members to deepen their involvement by joining the Aviva Arts Board of Directors.

A working board, rooted in values

Aviva Arts is a small, values-driven nonprofit, and our board is a working board. This means board members are actively engaged, contributing time, skills, care, and strategic thinking to help sustain and grow the organization. There is meaningful work to be done, and it is work grounded in collaboration, trust, and shared responsibility.

Serving on the board is an opportunity to help guide an organization that creates brave cultural spaces, supports artists, and offers resources for listening, healing, and imagining new futures together.

Why now?

As Aviva Arts continues to grow, expanding our programs, partnerships, and reach, we are at a pivotal moment. Our board plays a vital role in stewarding our vision, strengthening our sustainability, and ensuring that we can continue to pay artists and staff a living wage while responding thoughtfully to the needs of our community.

We are especially interested in connecting with people working in or familiar with:

  • Nonprofit strategy and governance

  • Social justice and advocacy

  • Professional artistic practice

  • Hospitality

  • Law

  • Finance

What board service looks like

  • A commitment of approximately 1 to 5 years

  • Participation in four quarterly board meetings per year (via Zoom)

  • Serving on at least one committee

  • Active participation in organizational strategy, sustainability, and advocacy

  • Acting as an ambassador for Aviva Arts’ mission and values

  • Showing up with care, curiosity, accountability, and integrity

You do not need prior board experience, only a genuine connection to our mission and a desire to make a meaningful impact in the arts right now.

If you feel called, or even just curious, we would love to connect.

Please reach out or schedule a conversation with us to learn more and explore whether this could be a good fit.
