foolsFURY’s Legacy

Born out of a calling for brave growth and transformation, Aviva Arts re-envisions the intersection of ensemble theater making and community care. Aviva Arts integrates strategies for greater inclusion, centers relationships, promotes equitable leadership models and programming that reflect voices least heard. Key to the new structure of Aviva Arts is to disrupt the perceived divide of artists and money. We do this in several ways, including inviting all artists currently working with Aviva Arts to sit on our board, giving more collaborators creative agency in projects, providing paid and housed internship opportunities, and a competitive living wage for all.

Aviva Arts is the next evolutionary step in a long legacy of ensemble-focused work by foolsFURY Theater. After 24 great years, and with the least amount of harm and the greatest amount of grace, foolsFURY closed in November 2022 by performing a public ritual of dismantling. Several key artists and activists for change are now a part of the birth of Aviva Arts.
